Job Overview
The Neonatal Unit at Frimley Park Hospital is a Local Neonatal Unit comprising 2 Intensive Care, 3 High Dependency, and 12 Special Care cots. The unit cares for babies over 26+6 weeks gestation and stabilises any baby under that gestation for transfer to a tertiary hospital/NICU. Our team aspires to provide high quality, evidence‑based, clinical, developmental and family‑integrated care to ensure the best outcomes for babies and their families.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead shifts and provide skilled nursing care.
* Undertake appraisals, sickness management and other management duties.
* Work alongside the Practice Development Nurse to ensure the junior team achieves competencies and professional development.
* Participate in the neonatal network, working groups, and cross‑site policy alignment with the Neonatal Unit at Wexham Park Hospital.
* Demonstrate knowledge and skills required for the position and maintain up‑to‑date professional development.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: NMC registration; RN/RN child, RM or RSCN; Neonatal specialist training ENB 405 or equivalent; Children’s safeguarding training level 2.
* Desirable: NLS qualification; Children’s safeguarding training level 3.
Experience
* Essential: Clinical practice in Neonatal nursing; Neonatal Toolkit.
* Desirable: Management experience.
Skills & Knowledge
* Essential: Computer literacy and numeracy; Teaching skills; Clinical audit skills; Presentation demonstrating understanding and importance of leadership.
