Offer description

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

The Library at LJMU provides a wide range of digital information tools and resources and access to the digital publications needed by all our students, researchers and staff. We support our users in getting the most out of digital content, whether they are consumers or creators, with advice and training, and a high-quality digital experience when using our applications. We have extensive walk-in facilities available to all members of the public.

We are the custodian of the collected outputs of all the University’s researchers, including articles, data and doctoral theses. The library provides training, support and systems for researchers to enable them to achieve their full potential and create a global impact.

The Library are now looking for a Library Engagement Team Leader to join our Library Engagement team, providing high-quality frontline support for students and staff across our library services.

You will be an enthusiastic, friendly and adaptable person and play a key role in managing the day-to-day work of the team, ensuring that excellent customer service standards are consistently delivered. You will lead and support colleagues delivering face-to-face and digital enquiry services, helping to maintain an efficient, responsive and user-focused service.

You should be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience. Candidates without formal qualifications but with significant, relevant experience will also be considered. You will have experience working in a customer-focused, service delivery environment, ideally within a library, IT or educational setting, along with experience of delivering enquiry services in a digital environment.

You should have excellent communication, customer care and team working skills, alongside the ability to manage, motivate and develop staff. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and digital systems is essential, as is the ability to gather and analyse information to support service improvements. You will be confident working both independently and as part of a team, able to problem-solve effectively and maintain high service standards under pressure.

Experience of supervising staff, contributing to service development or projects, and an interest in innovation and continuous improvement will be advantageous. A flexible approach and willingness to acquire new skills are essential to support service delivery in a changing environment.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction, and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do. Find out more about working at LJMU here.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.

LJMU is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and communities irrespective of age, transgender status, disability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity and religion or belief. All our appointments are made on merit.

Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
