West Michigan Aviation Academy is currently seeking a Full Time High School Spanish Teacher for the upcoming 26/27 School year. Must have teacher certification and endorsement.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Spanish Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging lessons and a dynamic learning environment while fostering a love for the Spanish language and culture. The Spanish Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
1. Develop and deliver high-quality Spanish language instruction to students
2. Incorporate cultural activities and resources to enhance language learning and promote an appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures.
3. Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
4. Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
5. Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
6. Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
7. Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
8. Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
9. Regular and predictable attendance
Cognitive Demands:
10. Supervision of multiple students at once
11. Establishing routines and procedures
12. Maintaining a safe and orderly environment
13. Create and implement instructional plans
14. Participate in continuous professional development
15. Effective oral and written communication skills
Physical Demands:
16. Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs
17. Stand and walk frequently
18. Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat
19. Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year
20. Withstand a moderate noise level
21. Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
22. Assist/lift students, as necessary
Qualifications:
23. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Spanish, Linguistics, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
24. Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.
25. Proficiency in Spanish and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
26. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
