Role Purpose: Joining the Land Integrated Portfolio Team (IPT) and reporting to the Engineering Director, the IPT Engineering Lead will be responsible for the planning and execution of tasks allocated to the Land Portfolio, including but not limited to bids, projects, production and research. The IPT Engineering Lead works within the IPT leadership team (IPT Lead and IPT Operations Lead) to deliver the Portfolio. The IPT Engineering Lead will provide oversight to the sub-teams within the IPT delivering to ensure execution follows prescribed process and working practice, this requires close interaction with the nominated Technical Lead (and Project Manager when appropriate) on each task, the Product Managers and the Functional Leadership. Key Responsibilities: Planning Supporting the IPT Lead in the planning, resourcing, set to work, risk management, execution, reporting and closure of IPT activities Underwriting bids and proposals before submission to the SLT for approval, and when required serving as a delegated authority to approve on behalf of the Engineering Director Underwriting and providing the monthly/quarterly resource demand and presenting to the Engineering Capability Managers in good time to react to changes, wherever possible avoiding moving resource from task to task reactively. Ensuring estimates and schedules to complete have a comprehensive basis on past work/burn rate and risk management Ensuring development and integration plans are realistic, risk mitigated and schedule optimised Supporting continuous improvement activities and individual development objectives set by the functional leads as required. Execution Accountable with the IPT Lead and IPT Operations Lead for on time, to budget and quality delivery of the IPT portfolio, including but not limited to projects, production, research and bid activities Ensuring lines of communication between customers, internal functions and internal stakeholders are clear and suitably inclusive. Supporting discussions on resource conflicts and considering the business objectives of other IPTs and functions in the allocation of employees to tasks Ensuring the Engineering Director is informed of all significant issues affecting delivery of the portfolio or the Product Roadmaps. Escalate action as required. Working with the Product Managers to support and drive the delivery of the Product Roadmaps, highlighting any opportunities emerging from IPT tasks. Providing feedback on team performance and escalate concerns promptly to the Engineering Capability Managers. Governance Overseeing the discrete sub-IPTs/project teams within the portfolio to ensure adherence to good practice, prescribed engineering process and active risk management. Conducting regular check-ups (frequency appropriate to project/issue) on sub-IPT progress with Tech Lead (and PM as appropriate) to support this objective and ensure Tech Leads are providing the necessary leadership for their roles. Ownership of the design governance sign off at design gate reviews, reporting on any observations or failures to the Engineering Capability Manager and the Engineering Director.
