Technology at ICG
We work predominantly on bringing together and manipulating trading and financial data from our trading and portfolio management systems, combining it with other data sources from our own back-office or our 3rd-party partners, and making that data intelligible for a variety of business needs, including client reporting and internal risk management.
The Technology team consists of 5 distinct teams, delivering technology and reporting services across the ICG organisation:
1. The team who are responsible for delivering the core infrastructure that supports the ICG business including our service desk, cloud estate, cyber and information security, desktop infrastructure and procurement.
2. Ourteam is the team of Business Analysts and Project Managers that deliver our more business facing projects for the technology team.
3. The team deliver our data platform, system integrations and other core development capabilities across ICG.
4. Our team delivers reporting to internal stakeholders and external investors for all strategies across ICG.
5. Our team at ICG is responsible for all aspects of our process around data including data strategy, data architecture, approaches to data governance and data quality as well as our central business intelligence capabilities.
The technology team at ICG is made up of permanent staff and contractors working directly or via partner organisations. We’re based primarily in London in the UK, but work on projects for teams all around the world.
Summary of our opportunity
The role will set the vision for data and AI enablement, as well as continue building on the foundations already established by the Data Operations team. Working through Data Operations, the role will ensure governance, quality and BI delivery are embedded consistently across the firm, while providing strategic direction and sponsorship to scale these capabilities further.
Primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
6. Working alongside both business stakeholders and the respective business partners aligned to each strategy to understand business processes and ensure the data strategy is aligned to business goals.
7. in conjunction with the Head of Development, guide the data architecture and data tooling for our data platform.
8. Definition and management of the data governance and data quality frameworks underpinning the data platform that is delivering our strategy.
9. Leadership of the Data Operations team, who are responsible for data governance, MDM and BI; ensuring they have the remit, visibility and support to strengthen governance, quality and BI capabilities across the organisation
10. Partnering with the Client Reporting Team to help define the reporting strategy of the organisation, helping ICG build a scalable reporting capability that can support the growth of the organisation.
11. Working with the Head of Development and Head of Business Partners to align overall data and AI objectives into the plans and roadmaps of their respective teams.
12. Oversight of the Data Modelling function, creating opportunities for closer collaboration with Data management and BI
13. Define and execute the AI enablement strategy aligned with business goals, owning the framework for responsible AI usage, and identifying and prioritising high-value use cases.
14. Partner with cross-functional teams to drive AI adoption, upskill employees, and embed AI into workflows and decision-making processes where there is business value.
15. Oversee deployment of AI solutions, evaluate emerging technologies, and measure ROI to ensure sustained business impact.
Key Requirements/ Qualifications
You will have demonstrable experience of:
16. Robust knowledge of design thinking approaches to developing data products
17. Significant data system architecture and design experience including an understanding of architectural concepts such as data marts, data fabric, delta lake etc
18. Azure data platform experience (Azure SQL, Data Lake, Synapse/ADF)
19. MS SQL Server and Azure SQL T-SQL
20. Cloud-based Data Management
21. BI and data-warehouse modelling techniques and approaches ( Kimball)
22. Deep understanding of relevant AI tools and concepts, such as machine learning frameworks, LLMs (, ChatGPT Enterprise, LangChain), model deployment pipelines and AIOps
Non-technical skills:
23. Experience in developing data and system architecture plans and roadmaps
24. Defining strategy and rollout of data architecture software engineering practises and supporting technology
25. Strong analytical skills. Working with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate those into forward looking plans and objectives within our data strategy
26. De-mystification of data and AI concepts for non-technical stakeholders
27. Experience in working in an Agile development environment, supporting the work of multiple product teams
28. Planning and allocating tasks to relevant team members who will be part of other teams
29. Closely managing 3rd party vendors and data providers to ensure ICG’s requirements and commercial interests are satisfied
30. A dedicated, enthusiastic, can-do attitude and a talent for identifying problems before they become serious

We are searching for a self-starter who has relevant experience in defining and executing technology change within the data space, in a financial services or similar organisation. Experience of operating in an agile environment would be necessary.
