Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards team primary responsibilities – The team’s responsibilities under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards are to ensure that adults who lack the capacity to consent but need to be accommodated under a care and treatment regime that may deprive them of their liberty have their best interests protected according to the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Main Responsibilities
In this role, you'll manage the Best Interests Assessor Team and lead professional practice development for BIAs across Adult Social Care and external commissioned agencies.
You will:
* Develop frontline individual BIA practice
* Oversee performance quality of the team of Best Interests Assessors
* Lead BIA activities across Staffordshire Adult Social Care and external agencies
* Share and develop MCA and DOLS knowledge within Adult Social Care
The Ideal Candidate
To apply, you'll need:
* A professional qualification such as CQSW, Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent, or registration as Nurse (RGN/MH/LD) or Occupational Therapist
* Current Best Interests Assessor qualification from an accredited provider
* Experience in coaching and mentoring professionals
* Knowledge of reflective supervision
* Extensive knowledge of legislation underpinning Adult Social Care, particularly MCA 2005 and Care Act 2014
