All about the role
We have an opening available for a Quality Engineer; the purpose of this role is to ensure the quality of our steel and products meet the required standards. You will also aid in the efficiency and profitability of the business.
Specific tasks could include:
1. Create and implement process documentation that is auditable to the latest ISO standards.
2. Establish good working relationships with relevant internal departments, subcontractors & customers.
3. Facilitate the investigation of quality concerns, in line with internal non-conformance procedure and customer requirements such as 8D, 5Y.
4. Collate evidence and provide sufficient response to all internal and customer requests regarding corrective/preventive actions.
5. Support Business Improvement and Quality System activities/requirements.
6. Perform & manage all formal quality inspection requirements including maintenance of required inspection records. This will include but not be limited to PPAP, ISIR & PSW requirements.
7. Coach, guide & train colleagues to maintain the required levels of material integrity and product quality.
8. Produce & present performance results in line with group KPI metrics.
9. Attend and participate in relevant meetings. Facilitating and leading regular and timely quality reviews.
10. Visit customer & supplier facilities as and when required. Liaise with suppliers to ensure integrity of supply.
11. Manage CE marking compliance requirements for test samples and documentation.
12. Manage and maintain the calibration requirements of internal/external measuring equipment.

Essential Skills for the role:
13. Experience working in this role in a similar environment.
14. Be a good communicator, self-motivated and capable of using own initiative with minimal supervision.
15. Have a good working knowledge of the relevant aspects of Health & Safety relating to the scope of work.
16. IT literate with a good hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Excel /Word and business IT systems
17. Able to read/understand technical drawings and work in a structured and methodical, organised manner.
