We are recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join an expanding business with offices in Yorkshire and the North East. This is a busy, hands-on role supporting a Qualified QS, ideal for someone with 1–2 years’ relevant experience or previous experience working under a qualified Quantity Surveyor. This role provides excellent exposure to large-scale projects and offers the opportunity to develop your career in a practical, supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Assisting in the preparation of valuations, cost reports, and estimates
2. Working from project management systems to process incoming project documentation accurately
3. Supporting the QS team in budget tracking, cost control, and contract administration
4. Monitoring project progress and updating cost records and reports
5. Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely information flow
6. Maintaining accurate records of project expenditure, purchase orders, and invoices
7. Supporting the QS in preparing variation assessments and claims
8. Attending project meetings and taking notes/action points as required
9. Performing general administrative duties to support the QS and wider team
Candidate Requirements:
10. 1–2 years’ experience working in Quantity Surveying or under a qualified QS
11. Strong understanding of QS duties and project processes
12. Excellent organisational and time management skills
13. Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
14. Proactive, motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
