Payroll Project Specialist
Salary: £38,000
Contract: Up to 6 months (potential extension)
Location: Hybrid – Essex

Are you passionate about payroll and enjoy diving into the details? Do you love solving complex problems and improving processes? We are looking for two Payroll Project Specialists to join an exciting payroll transformation project.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in updating absence and pension configurations, as well as Teachers’ Pension MCR and LGPS reporting within the payroll system. This is an opportunity to apply your payroll expertise to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
What You’ll Bring
* Extensive payroll experience with a meticulous eye for accuracy
* Ability to manually calculate PAYE and National Insurance
* Strong understanding of UK legislation on statutory absence and payments
* Experience with Local Government and Teachers’ Pensions (assumed pensionable pay and deduction tiers) – preferred
* Confidence in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and providing detailed feedback
* Knowledge of Oracle Fusion payroll system
What You’ll Work On
* Element Updates & Testing: Review and update payroll elements and test for accuracy in payroll entries and employee self-service.
* Statutory Absence: Configure and test improvements for statutory and occupational absence payments, ensuring compliance with HMRC reporting.
* Teachers’ Pension Reporting: Streamline reporting for service, salary, and contributions with accurate data and configuration.
* Local Government Pension Reporting: Transition to automated LGPS reporting by reviewing and testing processes for monthly compliance.
