As a Lead Data Scientist within the Workday Practice at Kainos, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the AI and analytics strategy for our Workday product offerings. You will lead the design and delivery of advanced AI/ML solutions that improve the functionality, scalability, and efficiency of Workday systems. You will focus on cutting-edge innovations, such as predictive analytics for workforce planning, anomaly detection in financial processes, and intelligent automation for Workday applications. You will collaborate closely with customers, mentor your team, and provide thought leadership across the organization.


Responsibilities

* Lead the design and delivery of advanced AI/ML solutions for Workday product offerings.
* Collaborate with customers, mentor your team, and provide thought leadership across the organization.
* Shape the AI and analytics strategy for Workday implementations and drive innovations in predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and intelligent automation.


Essential Experience

* Significant experience applying advanced statistical techniques, machine learning, and AI to solve complex business problems.
* Strong programming skills in Python, with an emphasis on clean, efficient, maintainable code for production-grade AI/ML solutions.
* Extensive experience with ML frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and the ability to design and optimise scalable solutions while guiding teams.
* Experience deploying production-grade AI/ML solutions, including data pipelines, MLOps (CI/CD, model versioning, monitoring), and integration with enterprise systems such as Workday.
* Proficiency with containerisation and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for cloud-native AI/ML systems.
* Data engineering expertise, including data wrangling, cleansing, and building production-ready pipelines.
* Experience in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and using cloud-native AI tools (e.g., SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure ML).
* Experience creating interactive dashboards and visual analytics (e.g., Tableau, Plotly, Dash, D3.js).
* Proven ability to lead and mentor data science teams and manage client engagements.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to translate business requirements into technical solutions.


Desirable Experience

* Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in CS, ML, OR, Statistics, or related field.
* Experience delivering AI solutions in enterprise SaaS environments, particularly for Workday.
* Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
* Familiarity with Workday APIs and automated testing frameworks (e.g., Kainos Smart).
* Experience with generative AI use cases using large language models for tasks such as conversational AI, summarisation, or content creation.
* Deep learning expertise (CNNs, RNNs, Transformers) in NLP, time-series forecasting, or recommendations.
* Knowledge of Databricks or similar data engineering/analytics platforms for scalable workflows.
* Active participation in knowledge-sharing activities (conferences, blogs, internal workshops).
