We have an exciting opportunity for Analytics & BI Developer in our Global IT role of the BI developer sits within the BI + Analytics product team which is responsible for the production of accurate corporate Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) through dashboards and self-service analytics.
The core job of BI Developer involves:
1. Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases.
2. Develop analytics and reporting capabilities.
3. Crafting and executing queries upon request for data.
4. As part of the BI + Analytics team contribute to the seamless flow of information throughout the organization.
5. As part of the BI + Analytics team contribute to the implementation of methods to improve data reliability and quality.
Key Accountabilities
· Delivery of self-service analytics and BI visualizations/dashboards
· Working with complex data relationships, translate business needs into technical specifications
· Lead design and development of analytical solutions
· Develop, implement, and document databases, data collection systems, data sets, data analytics
· Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
· Locate and define new process improvement opportunities Data cleansing. Where necessary collaborate with other product teams.
· Using ETL/ELT to create a dataset ready for analysis
· Collaborate with the Infrastructure team and data engineer on end-to-end Environment Management of AWS environments for Alteryx, Tableau etc.
· Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting (L support), maintenance, and enhancements.
The post holder will carry out any other duties as are within the scope and purpose of the job as requested by the Line Manager and ensure full utilization of all ISS systems according to Standard Operating Procedures.
Key Deliverables
· Ingest, store, process, and analyze data from different sources through a scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure.
· Provide expert advice and guidance to business users to ensure that they utilise the best data sources in their work, considering factors such as proposed use, data relevance, quality, timeliness, and completeness.
· Apply industry best practices and standards to build self-service analytics and data visualizations using technologies such as -
· Alteryx and Tableau
· Microsoft SQL, SQL Server, stored procedures
· Amazon Redshift
· Collaboration with other team members incl BI developers, Data Engineer, Data architects, and team members from other product teams and business stakeholders
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
Essential - (Must Have)
· Proven experience as BI Developer/Data Analyst/Tableau developer
· + years of working experience in delivering Analytics and BI projects.
· Solid experience in data analysis, self-service reporting, and BI technologies by making use of advanced analytical software such as Tableau/Qlik/PowerBI, Alteryx/SSIS/KNIME, or similar.
· Background in data warehouse design ( dimensional modeling)
· Programming and ETL/ELT frameworks.
· Strong understanding of SDLC/Engineering processes and roles, Requirements Management, QA etc.
· Practical experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, TeamCity etc.
· Good understanding of agile delivery methodologies Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile, SAFe, etc
· Strong communicator (verbal and written); ability to talk to different disciplines of stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
· Proven ability to work without the need for close supervision showing excellent time management, planning, and organisational skills.
· Attention to detail and ability to self-review work to ensure work is error-free.
· Desire to make a difference and ability to adapt to change.
Desirable (Good to have, but not mandatory)
· Highly desirable Certified in any of the Analytical and BI tools, ideally Tableau Certified Associate/Data Analyst or above, Alteryx Core Certified or above.
· Experience of, and assisted in, the implementation of governance, controls, and standards.
· Presentation and facilitation skills.
· Understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP), and online transactional processing (OLTP).
· Any Shipping or Maritime experience.
· Knowledge of port agency
Education and Professional Qualifications
Essential-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics, Data Management, or a related field.
Desirable- Certified in any of the Analytical and BI tools, ideally Tableau Certified Associate/Data Analyst or above, Alteryx Core Certified or above.
