Junior Estimator (Construction) – Luton
Newstaff Employment is hiring a motivated Junior Estimator (Construction) in Luton to join a growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in construction estimating while gaining hands-on experience from senior industry professionals.
Location: Luton
Salary: £28, to £35, per year (negotiable depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Key Responsibilities
1. Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to support accurate pricing.
2. Assist with preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
3. Help calculate labour, materials, plant, and time requirements.
4. Support senior estimators with value engineering and cost-saving exercises.
5. Prepare quantity take-offs and pricing comparisons.
6. Request and review supplier and subcontractor quotations.
7. Attend meetings with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams when required.
8. Maintain organised records of estimates, costs, and project data.
9. Learn to use estimating software and internal systems effectively.
Essential Skills & Experience
10. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience.
11. Strong numerical skills with a keen interest in estimating.
12. Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes.
13. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
14. Estimating software experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
15. Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
16. Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude.
17. Willingness to learn, grow, and build a long-term career in construction.
18. Previous construction work experience or internships would be beneficial.
