About Anzen
At Anzen, we are redefining how modern buildings integrate low-carbon heating and cooling systems by developing innovative, high-performance solid-state heat pumps designed for sustainability, reliability, and ease of installation. As a fast-growing, venture-backed startup, we operate at the intersection of product design, thermal systems, and building performance, and we're seeking ambitious engineers to join us on this mission.
The Role
We’re seeking a passionate and hands-on Design & Development Engineer to support the development of our cutting-edge product range. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their engineering career who’s eager to apply their design skills to real-world products and make a tangible impact in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers to deliver high-quality, robust, and cost-effective solutions, taking ideas from concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop components and subsystems, ensuring integration within the overall product architecture.
* Actively work on CAD in developing DFM and DFA.
* Identify and define test criteria to replicate real-world usage and optimize performance.
* Build functional prototypes for testing, demonstration, and iteration.
* Analyse test data, investigate failures, and develop solutions to improve reliability and performance.
* Deliver complete product designs and assemblies for manufacturing—on time, on budget, and to specification (functionality, reliability, safety, and performance).
* Work collaboratively across disciplines, including thermal, structural, and acoustic engineering.
* Contribute to a dynamic team working together toward shared goals in a start-up environment.
About You
* Degree in Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering.
* 1-2 years of experience in product design and development, ideally with plastics and sheet metal.
* Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.
* Proficient in 3D CAD and 2D drafting with GD&T.
* Creative thinker with a structured approach to problem solving.
* Hands-on experience with prototyping, test plan creation, and lab testing.
* Familiarity with a range of manufacturing processes and industrial measurement methods.
* Bonus: Knowledge in areas such as fluid flow, thermals, acoustics, or electronics.
* Above all, driven by curiosity and a desire to challenge conventional thinking and explore uncharted territory.
What we offer
* Salary range: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum (based on experience) + Equity options.
* 28 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays.
* The opportunity to work alongside the core team on challenging problems every day.
* Be at the forefront of cutting-edge clean technology, with the chance to drive tangible impact on the UK’s decarbonization goals.
