Job Purpose
The role of Head of Facilities is a senior operational leadership role that works across the whole charity, acting as a central knowledge hub and the coordinator of all facilities, compliance and health and safety activities. Including:
* Strategic oversight of facilities, including risk management & maintenance planning
* Ensuring proper coordination of maintenance activities
* Project management / support of facilities projects and new developments
* Ensuring health and safety compliance across the charity
* Strategic partnerships with key management stakeholders to develop and continuously improve the health and safety culture of the charity
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Facilities & Estates Management
* Ensure all facilities, both inside and out, are kept to expected high standards
* Coordinate the Facilities team across all YMCA branches, including deployment of internal resources and contractor management
* Develop and deploy processes that enhance facilities & estates management and compliance across the charity, including conducting regular audits
* Ensure coordination of activities and required works, including ownership of risk assessment findings and known maintenance gaps
* Identify costs and oversee delivery of all maintenance projects across the charity; lead on identifying upcoming maintenance needs and factoring them into budgeting and planning
* Provide project management support for development projects the charity commissions
* Compile regular reports for Directors and the Board of Trustees regarding risk profiles and remedial plans for facilities risks
Health & Safety
* Act as the operational point of contact for all health and safety regulatory matters
* Lead on compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, including fire risk assessments and other risk assessments
* Lead on assessing health and safety culture and compliance across the charity and work with managers to drive improvements
* Assess insurance needs and partner with insurance providers to ensure appropriate cover; own all insurance matters
* Compile regular reports for Directors and the Board on Health and Safety matters and lead the Health and Safety Compliance Committee
Person Specification & Key Competencies
Qualifications And Experience
* Three to five years of experience in a facilities and/or health and safety leadership role
* Qualifications in Health & Safety, Facilities and/or compliance (such as NEBOSH or equivalent)
* Experience delivering major maintenance and buildings projects (including project management experience and/or qualifications)
* Excellent knowledge of health & safety and compliance legislation and best practice
* Good IT proficiency
* Strong communicator with a collaborative approach
* Ability to lead a medium-sized team in complex environments
* Understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures
* Dedication to inclusion
