MISSION
The Managing Director will take full responsibility for leading the company through its next phase of development — driving organic growth, integrating acquisitions, strengthening operational capabilities, and building a scalable commercial structure. In the first year, the MD will be primarily based in Cumbria, working closely with the existing team and key customers nationwide. Thereafter, the role may be based in the Midlands or South of England, with regular travel as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategy & Executive Leadership
* Develop and execute a clear business plan to drive aggressive growth targets and sustained profitability.
* Lead the successful integration of all acquisitions, focusing on cultural alignment, operational synergies, and value realisation.
* Build, mentor, and empower a high-performing management team capable of supporting multi-site expansion.
2. Commercial Growth & Customer Management
* Strengthen key client relationships while aggressively driving new business acquisition across target markets.
* Identify and pursue strategic opportunities in adjacent sectors and complementary product lines to expand market share.
* Implement robust pricing, margin, and contract management frameworks to ensure profitability aligns with growth objectives.
3. Operational Excellence & Performance
* Oversee and optimise design, manufacturing, and delivery operations to ensure sector-leading efficiency, quality, and innovation.
* Implement scalable systems and processes suitable for a rapidly expanding, multi-site engineering business.
* Manage all financial planning, including budgets, forecasts, and key performance metrics (KPIs), in close collaboration with the Board.
4. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Investor Relations
* Provide leadership support for the due diligence, integration, and performance improvement of all acquired businesses.
* Serve as the primary liaison with investors, providing transparent progress reporting, identifying new growth opportunities, and ensuring the effective deployment of capital.
REQUIREMENTS
Sector & Leadership Experience
* Proven general management or senior commercial leadership experience within air movement systems, HVAC, ventilation, or a closely related technical manufacturing sector.
* A resilient, hands-on leader capable of operating effectively in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment.
* Comfortable leading small, entrepreneurial teams while simultaneously building the structure and processes necessary for scalability.
Commercial & Financial Acumen
* Strong commercial acumen with a clear track record of delivering profitable growth.
* Demonstrated experience in client-facing technical sales and adept at managing key customer relationships.
* Desirable: Knowledge of the Fan Manufacturing industry.
Corporate Strategy & Finance
* Familiarity with acquisition integration and experience working effectively with financial investors (e.g., Private Equity) is highly desirable.
