Are you an experienced Lawyer looking for a new challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a highly skilled Lawyer to join our Legal and Democratic Service, specifically within the People team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the community and contribute to the delivery of high-quality legal services.
As a Lawyer, you will provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of matters relating to people services, including employment law, education law, social care, and safeguarding. You will have the opportunity to work on complex and varied cases, collaborating with colleagues across the organisation to ensure legal compliance and the best possible outcomes for our residents.
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and attributes:
1. Qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with relevant post-qualification experience.
2. Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant areas of law, particularly in relation to people services.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide accurate and pragmatic advice.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
5. Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to manage a demanding workload and meet deadlines.

13. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service.
