I am looking for an Engineering Manager to join my client based in Bristol which develops assistive technology designed to empower individuals with speech and communication difficulties.
What you will be doing?
As Engineering Manager, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering high-quality assistive technology products. You'll lead cross-functional engineering teams spanning firmware, electronics, mechanical design, and QA/test. Your responsibilities will include aligning technical planning with product goals, guiding architectural and platform decisions, and ensuring compliance with key medical device standards (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601). You’ll oversee testing and documentation, manage lab spaces, and foster a collaborative, growth-oriented environment where engineers thrive. Additionally, you’ll contribute to long-term technical strategy and risk management across the product lifecycle.
What they are looking for?
They are looking for an experienced and people-focused Engineering Manager with a passion for assistive technology and a strong track record in regulated product development. You bring at least 3 years’ leadership experience in engineering teams, ideally in the medical device or life sciences sector. You have deep expertise in embedded electronic systems and an excellent grasp of product safety, risk management, and quality assurance practices. You're also a strong communicator and mentor, able to motivate and guide diverse technical teams to deliver robust, scalable, and impactful solutions. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as UK MDR, EU MDR, and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 is essential.
What you will get in return?
