Project Manager : Automation
Location: East Midlands – commutable from Derby, Leicester and Nottingham.
Salary: cGBP60k – GBP75k, negotiable based on experience and generous benefits.
Overview
Our client has been established for almost 20 years and is recognized as a leading provider of all aspects of hardware and software design through to robot systems integration and commissioning on a range of bespoke automation solutions for supply to a diverse range of clients throughout the UK. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Automation Project Manager to complement their highly successful Projects team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead multiple projects at an engineering level, ensuring alignment with client lead times and quality standards.
* Develop and secure sign‑off on project Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and create associated Controls layout.
* Produce technical documents (including diagrams and language) in line with client and industry standards.
* Oversee gateway sign‑off for automation, including FDS, electrical design, FAT, electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing.
* Manage resources for each project: identify, budget, order and deliver materials onsite according to schedule.
* Create project documentation to satisfy CE/UKCA marking requirements.
* Provide weekly project updates to the management team covering key risks, opportunities and escalations.
* Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and maintain high level communication with team members.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* At least 5 years’ experience in project management within a logistics automation environment.
* Proven expertise in electrical/PLC design and development, ideally from conveyor, robotics or automotive settings.
* Strong scheduling, prioritization, budget, task and risk management skills.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills at all levels.
