Newstaff Employment Services is seeking a dedicated and passionate Year 1 Teacher for a maternity cover position in a vibrant primary school. Starting February half term to the end of summer term.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to step in and nurture the learning and development of young learners in their crucial first year of formal education. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum and be committed to creating a stimulating, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
Your role will be to deliver engaging lessons that inspire curiosity and foster a love for learning, while also monitoring student progress and adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs. As a Year 1 Teacher, you will work collaboratively with other staff members, support staff, and parents to ensure each child’s unique requirements are met. Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that engage and inspire Year 1 students.
2. Assess and track student progress, providing feedback and guidance to help them achieve their targets.
3. Create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that encourages children’s curiosity and creativity.
4. Work collaboratively with fellow teachers and support staff to ensure a cohesive teaching approach.
5. Communicate effectively with parents regarding their children’s progress and needs.
6. Maintain high standards of classroom management and behavior.
7. Implement school policies and adhere to safeguarding procedures.
Requirements
8. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
9. Experience teaching within a primary school setting, particularly in Year 1.
10. Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 curriculum.
11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
12. Ability to differentiate lessons to meet the diverse needs of students.
13. Passionate about providing engaging and enriching learning experiences for young children.
14. High standards of classroom management and behavior.
15. Current Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undertake a new one.
