The Role We are seeking inspiring Food Technology Teacher to join a vocationally focused curriculum team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about hands-on learning and who can bring creativity, patience, and structure to learners who may have experienced challenges in mainstream settings. Key responsibilities include: Delivering engaging, practical Food Technology lessons tailored to individual learning needs. Supporting students to develop essential life skills including healthy cooking, nutrition understanding, food hygiene, and food preparation. Adapting teaching to suit a wide range of abilities and social, emotional, or behavioural needs. Monitoring progress, maintaining accurate assessments, and providing constructive feedback. Creating a safe, calm, and well-organised cooking environment with strong attention to health and safety. Contributing to personalised curriculum planning and working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team. Person Specification Essential: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Strong subject knowledge in Food Technology, Hospitality & Catering, or Nutrition. Experience teaching students with additional needs or those who benefit from alternative approaches. Excellent communication and behaviour-support skills. Ability to build trusting relationships with students who may need additional encouragement or emotional support. Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education. Desirable: Experience within an alternative provision, vocational setting, or specialist school. Knowledge of entry-level, functional skills, or vocational qualifications. Ability to run small-group sessions and highly personalised learning plans.
