Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, caring and highly motivated radiographer to work as a team leader in pre-treatment at Guys Cancer centre.
Key Responsibilities
* Work in a sophisticated pre-treatment department with advanced scanning and planning techniques.
* Operate within extended day working and shift patterns, including machine service days and unscheduled service interruptions.
* Work bank holidays and weekends in line with departmental and service operational needs.
* Participate in the on‑call rota as a requirement of the post.
* Collaborate with the leadership team in pre‑treatment to effectively deliver the service and support the section and operational lead radiographers.
* Maintain excellent patient‑centred care at all times in line with the trust values.
* Uphold high standards of accuracy and quality in all aspects of pre‑treatment, including preparations, patient positioning, CT scanning, contrast delivery, virtual simulation and working in MRI and PET‑CT.
* Ensure junior and rotating radiographers are supported in their learning and drive service development.
Service Context
The Radiotherapy Service serves a catchment population of approximately 1.6 million and is the provider of radiotherapy for the six London boroughs – Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. The service also receives national referrals for specialist skin radiotherapy, Total Skin Electron Body radiotherapy (TSEBT), TBI, stereotactic radiotherapy, body and intracranial treatment, and a small number of private patients. The service delivers in excess of 52,000 radiotherapy treatments and collaborates closely with colleagues at King’s College NHS Foundation Trust, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.
