An opportunity has arisen for experienced psychiatrists (Consultants or SAS) to become Lead Psychiatrists (LP) and work as part of the collective leadership team in the Durham Tees Valley & Forensic Care Group (DTV&F). This role ensures effective and safe patient care is delivered in a person-centred manner, with decision-making as close to the patient as possible.
The Lead Psychiatrist is expected to demonstrate the Trust values at all times and work within a service tier level of the care group model as part of a collective leadership team (CLT). They will influence operational managerial responsibilities and clinical pathways, sharing accountability for service quality. The Lead Psychiatrist will serve as the professional lead for doctors within their service, overseeing standards of medical practice across inpatient and community teams, and leading on quality and safety initiatives.
They will provide a visible, accessible, and authoritative presence in clinical areas, ensuring fundamental standards of care are upheld. The post holder will offer professional advice on medical matters, lead the medical workforce in their specialty, and ensure continuous professional development and clinical supervision for all doctors.
Applicants with experience in Adult, Older People, Children and Young People, Learning Disability, and Autism services are encouraged to apply. The substantive clinical base will depend on the candidate’s specialty and current vacancies. The weekly job plan will be discussed and can be flexibly adapted on an individual basis.
