Salary: £30,000 - £34,000 • Hours: 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm • Location: Manchester • Closing date: 24th April 2026 • Contract type: Permanent, full time


Job Summary

We are seeking an administrator to the college Senior Leadership Team to support management and the running of the college environment.


Overview

The Administrator to the SLT provides administrative and logistical support to the Senior Leadership Team and plays a vital role in the higher‑level coordination and smooth‑running of Abbey College Manchester. In addition, the Administrator will provide administrative support across the college, specifically in student services, attendance management, exams officer support and liaising with the Group Sales and Marketing team.


Responsibilities

* Administration support for all members of the SLT: preparing letters, templates, proofing, minutes of meetings, diary management and preparation of Board Reports.
* Preparation, collation and sharing of termly Governance paperwork, schedule and logistics as requested by Head Office.
* Support the Student Induction process.
* Communication with students when directed.
* Co‑ordinate internal and external meetings and organise the required catering and room arrangements.
* Meeting and greeting visitors.
* Assist with organising all social events, including liaising with venues and suppliers.
* Updating and coordinating the school calendar and events.
* Assisting in the policy review process.
* Student Services – acting as the first contact for students with concerns and questions of any nature and directing queries to appropriate members of staff.
* Attendance support: keeping attendance registers up to date, coordinating the system for tracking missing students, sending absence notifications twice per day and dealing directly with students and their parents/guardians.
* Exam support: assisting the Assistant‑Principal Academic in co‑ordinating the full exams cycle, including entries, timetabling, rooming and invigilation; preparing and maintaining exam schedules, seating plans and candidate lists; organising secure storage of exam papers in line with JCQ/awarding body requirements.
* Sales and Marketing support: touring the college with potential students and their families; assisting the Group Marketing team in organising local recruitment events and social media activities; acting as an in‑college contact for any potential enquiries from domestic/retake students.


Essential Knowledge and Experience

* Highly effective communication skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* System‑focused with ability to pick up new systems quickly.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Excellent organisation and planning skills.
* Good MS Excel skills
* Very adaptable, able to shift focus at short notice
* Ability to work in a busy environment
* Strong admin experience across multiple departments.
* Working in a school environment is beneficial but not essential.
* Ability to work under pressure, identify priorities and meet tight deadlines.
