A fantastic opportunity has recently arisen within the Breast Care Centre for a Patient Pathway Coordinator to join our busy departments across Southmead Hospital and Weston General Hospital. This team are focused on helping manage the administrative processes for patients who suffer with Breast Cancer in the Bristol and South West area. The ideal candidate will need to be able to work alongside the existing administrative teams across both sites (Southmead Hospital and Weston General Hospital) in a calm, logical, organised and methodical way whilst being able to multi‑task in a busy environment with complex patient pathways. The role will be to support all surgical administration aspects of the patient pathway in line with 2WW cancer pathways and 18‑week referral to treatment guidelines, therefore RTT and cancer knowledge is desirable. This role demands exceptional organisational skills and resilience, as it involves managing high‑volume, time‑sensitive tasks in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment. The ideal candidate will thrive under stress, efficiently juggling multiple priorities while supporting a critical and compassionate cancer care team. Candidate must be available to work within the Breast Care department at Weston General Hospital when required.
Main Duties
* Schedule new/followup/post‑op outpatient appointments, pre‑admission, treatments, diagnostics and operation dates, ensuring patients are informed with reasonable notice and relevant paperwork is completed. Ensure elective attendances/admissions are promptly and accurately recorded on the appropriate PAS system(s).
* Accurately record and ensure elective waiting times, including 31 and 62‑day targets, are met, escalating concerns to the Support Manager.
* Involvement in data validation and managing outpatient waiting list data.
* Follow correct booking processes (full/partial booking), accurately recording elective/non‑elective activity.
* Regularly liaise with admin and clinical teams at Weston General Hospital to ensure patient pathways are coordinated effectively.
* Work closely with the CNS team on administrative tasks.
* Manage theatre lists for consultants across multiple sites.
* Be aware of the needs and concerns of patients, providing a friendly, efficient service, and using effective listening/communication skills when dealing with potentially distressed or bereaved patients and/or relatives. Use an empathetic approach, seeking assistance from clinical staff/managers as appropriate.
* Promptly answer telephone inquiries, relay messages, and take appropriate action, including inquiries from patients, GPs, and community hospitals. Assist Patient Pathway Assistants with their queries.
* Actively participate in and prepare relevant information for the weekly Breast MDT.

* Educated to GCSE C standard or above (Maths and English)
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (Essential)
* Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment
* Ability to follow procedures / complete work to deadlines
* Ability to communicate with a broad range of individuals including clinicians
* Knowledge and experience of working in an admin / waiting list environment
* Previous NHS experience or similar
Desirable Criteria
