Overview
The Playcentre (Gladstone and Falsgrave) is an out of school setting which opened in 1995. We accept children from four to eleven years old. We provide before & after school care to our local school. During the school holidays we also offer full day holiday club. We work in partnership with the local schools in our area. We pride ourselves with meeting all the individual needs for the children; including but not limited to, arts & crafts, creative & imaginative play, sports & physical development. Our priority is to provide a safe and secure environment that can aid in encouraging children's learning & development.
Responsibilities
* To ensure the children are cared for in a happy, secure, and stimulating environment.
* To have knowledge, understanding and confidence in keeping children safe and implement our safeguarding procedures appropriately.
* Carry out a key person role building effective relationships with the parents and children and meeting their children's individual care and learning needs.
* Supervise, observe, encourage, and support the children in meeting their personal targets, through their interests ensuring they progress and develop leading them onto the path of school readiness.
* To plan, prepare and deliver the curriculum with the team to consistently meet the requirements of the EYFS.
* To establish a trusting relationship with parents through working in partnership with them, giving daily informative feedback to meet their child's needs.
* Adhere to all the policies and procedures set out by the business.
* It is important to be able to work well in a team and use your own initiative. You will work closely with children and their families.
* Domestic cleaning duties.
Apprenticeship specifics
* As an apprentice you'll:
o Have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace.
o Be able to work well within a team
o Follow instructions a daily routine
o Work with a range of policies set out by the setting
Qualifications required
* GCSE in Maths and English A-C (9-4) and NCFE/CACHE Level 2 Diploma in Childcare

Additional information
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices' chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in maths and English. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role. Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face-to-face training, and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.
