We are looking for anexperienced, confident, proactive and flexible leader, with a proven trackrecord of working in a relevantsector, to join our team of Area and DevelopmentManagers, responsible for both day-to-day operations and development activities, and for ensuring a unifiedapproach to service delivery across the city. Your focus for developmentwould be children,including Early Years, and young people with a diverse range of needs andapproaches to reading and literacy. Enabling all children and youngpeople to learn and reach their potential is a central priority for thelibraries service and the city, therefore experience within this area isdesirable. Reporting to theDeputy Head of Libraries, you would manage staff working within this area offocus and also those responsible for day-to-day operationaleffectiveness.
You should have appropriateknowledge, skills and experience and strong management andleadership skills. You would need to be empathetic andcreative, resilient and collegial, and passionate about libraries and howthey support people, communities and cities.
Aprofessional library qualification is desirable but not essential for the rightperson with a proven track record.
Hours of work will be mainlyMonday – Friday and can be negotiated. Some flexibility will be required and there will beopportunities to work from home, depending on service need.
