CNC Miller Programmer/Setter/Operator
Location: Leatherhead
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Salary Range: £38,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Overtime: Available as required
Late Shift Uplift: 30% uplift for late shifts worked
Job Purpose of a CNC programmer
To set, program, and operate 3- to 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-quality precision components. The role includes supporting R&D with prototyping and development work, verifying and approving CNC programs using Cimco, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across production processes.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, program, and operate 3 and 5 axis CNC milling machines to produce precision-engineered components.
Approve and verify CNC programs using Cimco software.
Support R&D teams with prototyping and new product development.
Ensure work is completed to the required quality, accuracy, and delivery standards.
Conduct first-off inspections and maintain quality control throughout the production run.
Drive Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and workflow across production processes.
Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure work areas are kept clean, safe, and organized.
Collaborate closely with engineers, production staff, and management to meet company objectives.Skills, Experience & Qualifications for a CNC programmer
Essential:
Proven experience as a CNC Miller Programmer/Setter/Operator in a precision engineering environment.
Strong understanding of CNC programming principles (Fanuc / Heidenhain / Siemens or equivalent).
Experience working with 3- to 5-axis CNC machines.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Experience using Cimco or similar CNC verification software.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Good communication and teamwork skills.Working HoursDay Shift:
Monday to Friday - 8:00am to 4:00pmLate Shift (when implemented):
Monday to Thursday - 2:00pm to 10:00pm
Friday - 8:00am to 4:00pm
Late shift hours attract a 30% pay uplift.Note: Late shifts are not a permanent arrangement. Should they be required, discussions and consultations will be held with employees prior to implementation.
Additional Information
Overtime may be required depending on workload and will be subject to prior approval.
