Electrical Design Engineer – Harrogate (Hybrid) £45,000 - £55,000 basic, plus bonus, and benefits

With over 25 years’ combined experience within the industry, our client has an enviable reputation as a leading MEP services design consultancy providing sustainable long-term building and engineering solutions which fulfil their client’s business needs. The business has achieved strong YOY growth but now face a number of positive challenges, including managing revenue, increased customer demand, sustainability, and expansion of service offering. They have a host of clients with an extensive portfolio of projects across sectors including education, commercial, industrial, local authority, HMP, residential, healthcare, infrastructure, utilities, leisure.
* Role responsibilities
Role responsibilities
* The Electrical Engineer will manage the workload and technical standard of local design engineering with support from the Project Lead and Manager.
* Produce fee proposals and monitor the resource profile and profitability of projects, with support to develop these skills.
* Capable of the full design of Electrical services (and some mechanical), including preparation of drawings, calculations, Contractor’s Proposals, and all relevant supporting documentation for projects at Pricing and Construction stages to meet client requirements.
* Encouraged to work towards Chartership, if not already.
Technical
* Supporting the Lead Engineer with input to monthly management reports.
* Supporting the Directors with design queries.
* Participating in regular Principal Engineer meetings to discuss design department matters (resource, projects, design issues, etc.).
* Attending design meetings with Client / Lead Engineer to accept design briefs and advise on proposed work.
* Arranging required survey work and preparation of Contractor’s Proposals.
* Arranging the preparation of drawings and technical back-up for Planning Applications.
* Design of mechanical/electrical services including calculations, layout drawings, and specifications.
* Carrying out design reviews in line with design QA documents.
* Participating in project handover meetings including defects and incomplete works inspections.
* Keeping team members up to date with new developments in sustainable technology and training schemes.
* Carrying out technical presentations to End Users, Clients, and Staff.
* On BIM-enabled projects, adhering to ISO 19650 and/or the project BIM Execution Plan (BEP).

Experience/Qualifications
* Proven ability to support Managers.
* Formal qualifications covering Mechanical / Electrical Building Services and substantial experience in design and calculation of electrical systems (small power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, security, data, and utilities).
* Computer literate with working knowledge of AutoCAD and design software including Dialux, Relux, Amtech.
* Preferred: working knowledge of Revit MEP Electrical Design Services.
* Experience in mains/sub-mains power distribution, small power and ancillary services, internal/external lighting systems, specialist lighting design and control systems.
* Sustainable energy knowledge; earthing and bonding requirements; power and controls wiring for mechanical services; power requirements for sustainable systems.
Package / Remuneration: The remuneration package offered at this stage is subject to the experience of the candidate, but will likely include: Basic Salary: between £45,000 - £55,000; Additional: Health, Pension, laptop, mobile phone.
