Practice Manager
London | Hybrid | £60,000–£75,000 + benefits
Our client is a specialist law firm with a strong reputation across Court of Protection, Education, Wills & Probate, and Disputes work. The firm is growing, evolving, and entering an exciting new phase and we’re looking for an exceptional Practice Manager to help shape their future.
This is a newly created, business-critical role designed to take ownership of the operational running of the firm, freeing the Managing Director to focus on client work, business development, and strategic growth. This is a rare opportunity to step into a key leadership role and make a visible, lasting impact on a growing firm.
If you thrive in a fast-paced professional services environment, love improving systems and processes, and enjoy being the calm, organised centre of a busy operation, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role
As the Practice Manager, you will:

* Lead all operational functions including administration, HR support, IT, facilities, and compliance.
* Be the go-to problem solver for internal queries and team coordination.
* Oversee smooth onboarding and offboarding processes.
Drive financial efficiency
* Oversee billing, time recording and credit control to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
* Work closely with our Finance Manager to monitor budgets, cashflow, and department performance.
* Provide clear reporting and insights to support decision-making.
Support and improve our people experience
* Work alongside our HR partners to support managers on people issues, performance, and culture.
* Help create consistency, accountability, and fairness across the firm.
* Coordinate internal communications and engagement activities.
Lead on compliance and systems
* Act as operational lead for SRA compliance and risk management.
* Manage relationships with our IT and case management system providers.
* Drive system improvements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the firm stays efficient and well-supported.
Enable growth and strategic development
* Support the launch of new practice areas (including our expanding Education Law offer).
* Provide operational insight to help shape the next phase of the firm’s development.
* Create the foundation for a high-performing, well-structured, values-led law firm.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in legal operations, practice management, or professional services operations
* Confident managing people processes, data, compliance, and internal systems
* Highly organised, proactive, and able to juggle multiple demands without losing focus
* Commercially minded, with an understanding of how law firms run profitably
* A natural communicator who can build trust, influence, and encourage accountability
* Calm, pragmatic and solutions-focused — even when things get busy
* Values-driven, approachable and aligned with a collaborative firm culture
Experience in a law firm is strongly preferred, but we welcome applicants from similar regulated or professional services environments.
