We are currently seeking an experienced Regional Transport Solutions Manager. The role is to be based in Chineham, Basingstoke 3 days per week with travel across the network as required. The Regional Transport Solutions Manager is accountable for leading a regional solutions modelling team, working in collaboration with the National Planning and Regional Distribution Centre leadership teams, to model and build an optimum, efficient (service and cost) base schedule for Primary and Retail operations, whilst seeking wider synergy opportunities with Fashion, Home and Beauty (FH&B) to generate value for M&S. The Regional Transport Solutions Manager will own the operating schedules for their region and will be accountable for ensuring optimal transport capacity is available to deliver cost-effective service performance to suppliers, RDC and stores. This includes leading store delivery schedule surgeries, peak modelling and updating schedule master data to ensure seamless peak operational performance Ensures new suppliers, new stores and refreshers are modelled utilising Fastnet system to ensure network remains efficient and all systems are set up for success and service policy is maintained Owns and manages Transport Planning Mapper system, ensuring all upcoming road closures are accurately reflected in the plan to ensure schedule integrity across the region Hosts weekly regional driver sharing call to ensure all available driver resource are fully leveraged, reducing agency and subcon costs Lead and develop the Transport Solutions Modelling team to ensure that they have the required skillset to produce and deliver value for M&S, on a consistent basis, whilst also creating succession development pathways Who you are: Extensive knowledge of chilled transport logistics networks including experience within transport planning Strong leadership skills The ability to engage and influence at appropriate levels both within Gist and M&S Ability to take a fresh and innovative view to problem solving and analysis Analytical approach to review effectiveness and efficiency of current network Experience of relevant network planning systems – Paragon (essential) & Enterprise Advanced user of Transport execution systems - Microlise Strong logic and numerical reasoning Ability to demonstrate financial awareness through experience of owning transport budgets Ability to manage and prioritise a broad range of initiatives The ability to simplify complex problems/messages – adjusting the approach as necessary Ability to think creatively to solve problems and to bring colleagues with you Stakeholder management skills to provide information, drive decisions and resolve issues People development/coaching skills Why Gist?
