Gower Chemicals are currently recruiting for an Engineer to join our higher COMAH site in Sherburn.
Our principle activities are the production of a wide range of acid and base chemicals diluted and blended to bespoke customer specifications.
In particular we are the UK hub for hydrofluoric acid and premium quality sulphuric acid. We dilute and package a range of acid products for various markets. We also toll pack and reclaim refrigerant gases.
Overview of role:
* Mechanical, electrical and technical support activities through engineering discipline to the operations of the Sherburn production site.
* Hands on field support in key areas such as troubleshooting, repairs, investigations, isolations, permitting, testing, installations and removals of equipment; all in conjunction with the site operations teams where necessary.
* Liaison with regulators (HSE, EA, LA) where presence or information is requested.
* Supporting existing engineering roles and management staff with coordination of other disciplines, such as: Process Safety, Functional Safety, PPM, Auditing, Documentation, Projects, SHEQ, Outages and Shutdowns.
* Work with internal colleagues, external suppliers and contractors to deliver on-site projects and maintenance to an agreed specification.
* The role is a combination of hands on field activity and desk based administration.
* Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering discipline.
Purpose of role:
* Support administration of maintenance on site with the EMMS (Pirana).
* Support administration of SSOW e.g. Isolation, Permit to Work, RAMS, Contractor liaison and Document Control.
* Procurement and managing inventory of critical and other spares.
* Data gathering, research and analysis.
* Planning and implementation of checks and inspections within PPM schedules
* Technical administration and hands on field support with the design, development and ongoing operation of the site's operating plant.
* Technical support with the design and development and implementation of new projects and improvements.
* Support the coordination of systems in place for managing changes (MOC process), improvements, accidents and incidents.
* Identify and have input with ideas for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) and efficiency improvements in areas of work activity as part of a multi-disciplinary team; prioritising and implementing those improvements.
* Effectively and accurately communicate with colleagues within the production and management teams and other functions within the Gower Chemicals business.
* To be accountable and responsible for own health and safety and for those around them who could be affected by their actions.
* Assist in the coordination of specific requirements associated with COMAH Regulations where engineering practices are required to be demonstrated and technical input applied.
* Where qualified, competent, and authorised to do so, train and coach colleagues.
* Where qualified, competent, and authorised to do so, undertake planned or reactive maintenance activities specific to plant.
* Undertake plant specific analytical testing as required for production activities.
* Undertake plant specific new or refurbished equipment installation testing as required for production activities
* Identify and respond accordingly to emergency situations whilst following emergency procedures.
* Develop, review and publish documentation and reports associated with the role.
* On occasion and where necessary, provide support of the above duties to the Swansea site, in conjunction with their Engineering team.
Qualifications and Experience
* (Minimum) HND qualified mechanical or electrical engineer or similar preferred, although time-served relevant experience will be considered
* COMAH Awareness
* Functional Safety awareness
* Use and maintenance of Respirex air-fed PPE/RPE. Training provided
* Auditing
* Project Management
