Job description: Electrical Design Engineer
Overview
Responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services across all project stages. The role supports project delivery through compliant, efficient, and well-coordinated designs in line with company standards and industry regulations.
Design & Technical Delivery
* Undertake electrical design across BSRIA Stages 1–5 (concept through to construction)
* Prepare calculations, specifications, and drawings for lighting, small power, containment, fire alarms, data, and security systems
* Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (BS 7671, Building Regulations, client requirements)
* Coordinate with mechanical, public health, and architectural/structural elements
Project Delivery
* Deliver work in line with agreed programmes and project milestones
* Attend design meetings and contribute to technical discussions
* Respond to RFIs, design queries, and contractor information requests
* Support site activities, including inspections and technical reviews
Quality Assurance
* Complete engineer self-checks before issue
* Ensure all outputs follow company QA procedures and design guides
* Maintain accurate records of design assumptions and decisions
* Address review comments from senior engineers or project leads
* Deliver work within allocated time budgets
* Highlight scope changes, risks, or additional work requirements
* Support efficient project delivery to maintain target margins
Coordination & Communication
* Liaise with internal teams and external consultants/contractors
* Ensure clear, timely communication of design intent and changes
* Support coordination of services within the BIM/Revit environment
* Follow company SOPs and contribute to improving design processes
* Develop technical knowledge and stay up to date with regulations
