Practice Based Educator – Theatres (Maternity leave cover)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in the Surgical Theatre team as a Lead Practice educator with a focus of developing, delivering, and managing education across the theatre department. This is a unique and exciting opportunity comes as a 12 month fixed term contract or secondment opportunity.
Responsibilities
* Function as a leader of different peri-operative education projects to complement the provision of an efficient and high‑quality surgical service.
* Deliver pre‑ and post‑graduate education in theatres and practice education across the theatre workforce, including practitioners, nurses, ODPs, support workers, surgical assistants, specialist practitioners and admin/support staff.
* Supervise a multidisciplinary team and ensure the highest standard of peri‑operative education.
* Develop, implement, evaluate education programmes within the peri‑operative complex.
* Represent the workforce in educational capacities with internal and external partners.
* Participate in clinical supervision programmes and act as facilitator/mentor/preceptor to varying staff groups.
* Demonstrate leadership skills and experience in managing the department and providing specialist clinical leadership.
* Support the training and development programme to help staff reach their full potential.
* Maximise use of clinical and educational resources, including budget management.
* Provide line‑management responsibilities.
Qualifications
* Excellent knowledge of practice education and current peri‑operative practice.
* Educational qualification, either holding or working towards a postgraduate certificate or master’s level study.
* Registration as an Operating Department Practitioner with the HCPC or as a NMC registered adult nurse.
* Experience in peri‑operative education and supervising multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
