Psychiatry is in an exciting phase in Forth Valley. We have recruited extensively in recent years, developing a dynamic team focused on high-quality services. Our Consultants will have sufficient SPA time to help achieve accreditation according to the Royal College of Psychiatrists standards. Our inpatient General Adult Psychiatry wards are highly functional.
The inpatient unit is purpose-built, including IPCU, two General Adult, and two Older Adult acute wards. Our services are located close to teams providing perinatal, hospital addiction, psychiatric liaison, acute assessment, and home treatment services. Collaboration with these teams and wider mental health services is central to this role.
Ward 2 is a 21-bed Acute Inpatient Unit covering Forth Valley North Sector, with input from a Specialty Doctor and another Consultant alongside this post.
We are committed to attracting talented students into Psychiatry and developing them into Consultants serving Scotland. Our training programs are nationally recognized, and we aim to expand them further. We are home to the Scottish Centre for Clinical Simulation and Human Factors, a state-of-the-art training facility, and the PSYCHSIM programme, which trains staff in emergency management on Psychiatry wards. Additional Consultant leadership is sought to expand this initiative.
We offer bespoke roles for candidates interested in combining sessions in General Adult Psychiatry with other specialties, tailored to the successful candidate's development. We support time for teaching and training activities, including regional and national opportunities.
