Candidates should have
* A proven ability to work within established school procedures, policies and approved methods
* Awareness of and compliance with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality and data protection
* Interpersonal and communication skills to establish contact and build relationships with parents, carers and families, and to establish useful links with local groups, agencies and organisations that work with families and provide advice or guidance to parents on parenting and child issues
* An ability to pass on clear, concise and factual information without bias through emotional stresses or strains
* IT literate and confident in word processing
* Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
* Knowledge and experience of local and national safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Numeracy/Literacy skills equivalent to GCSE in English and Mathematics – GCSE (Grade A‑C)
* Knowledge and/or relevant experience of:
o The educational support needs of parents and families
o School‑based ethos and culture for inclusion
