We are looking for a design-focused software engineer for our TMW (The Mortgage Works) technology team, to help design, refine, and code solutions against our Oracle platform. Working closely with business stakeholders, we’re seeking someone who can lead in translating business requirements into technical designs and break them down into technical user stories.

The Mortgage Works is Nationwide’s Buy to Let mortgage provider. We aim to develop innovative mortgage applications and self-service systems for landlords and brokers, ensuring they are developed rapidly and hosted on resilient, supported platforms.

We offer hybrid working options, combining office presence with home working, to foster collaboration, learning, and connection across our UK-wide estate. Our offices are located in Bournemouth, Swindon, or London, where you will spend at least two days per week or 40% of your working time if part-time. Responsibilities
1. Lead the design, build, and support of secure, robust systems, working with both modern and legacy technologies.
2. Ensure solutions comply with best practices, guardrails, and non-functional requirements to guarantee performance, resilience, and security.
3. Collaborate with stakeholders to define solutions that meet business and technical needs.
About You
You should have experience in technical design and expertise in:
* Oracle platforms, applications, and PL-SQL scripting.
* Design approaches like UML and Entity Relationship Modelling.
* Controls and governance for resilient, performant, and secure solutions.
* Producing technical designs and packaging software.
* Creating clear, high-quality documentation.
* Managing multiple deliveries and stakeholder expectations effectively.
