Welding Engineer Northwest UK | Permanent A long‑established engineering organisation with over a century of technical heritage is seeking a Welding Engineer to join its growing team. The company specialises in complex, high‑integrity engineered products and supports major defence and industrial programmes. As part of ongoing expansion, the business is strengthening its welding coordination and quality functions. About the Role The Welding Engineer will play a key role within the welding coordination team, supporting day‑to‑day welding activities and driving improvements across the Welding Quality Management System (WQMS). This position is central to ensuring compliance, maintaining accreditation standards and supporting both new product introduction and legacy programmes. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with welding standards and procedures as the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) Provide daily welding support across production and engineering teams Lead welding‑related planning data for SAP work orders Plan and coordinate internal welder audits and accreditation‑related audit activities Identify root causes of weld issues using structured problem‑solving methods Support and implement corrective actions (RCCA) to drive process improvements Review and assess welding‑related suppliers for suitability Develop Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) for new and existing products Create SOPs and work instructions to ensure accurate information flow Conduct pre‑audit analysis for EN 1090, ISO 3834 and DIN 2303 compliance Coordinate welder qualification testing to BS EN ISO 9606 and 14732 Support production engineering and design teams on welding matters Assist with welding plant selection and identify best‑in‑class welding technologies Implement improvements across legacy programmes to maintain and enhance product quality What We’re Looking For IWT / EWT qualified Registered with the Welding Institute (TWI) CSWIP 3.1 qualification Previous experience in welding coordination Strong knowledge of MIG/MAG (SMAW) and TIG (GTAW) processes Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation Working knowledge of ISO 3834 Experience supporting external audit activity Good general IT skills Strong communication and people‑management capability Benefits Competitive salary Enhanced pension scheme Half‑day Friday Life assurance Company sick pay (increasing with service) Employee Assistance Programme Additional holiday and long‑service rewards Wellbeing initiatives Cycle‑to‑work scheme Free on‑site parking Electric vehicle charging points Data Protection Notice: By applying for this position, you consent to Recruit Engineering processing and storing your personal data, including your CV, contact details, and any other relevant information, for the purpose of providing work-finding services.
