Fixed Term 8 Month Secondment
Are you interested in developing your leadership skills?
We are looking to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide OT Leadership across the East Staffs IMHTs and ILS. This position will cover maternity leave until November 2026. It is advertised as a fixed‑term position or a secondment opportunity, with availability for up to three days a week at Band 7.
If you are in a part‑time role and would like to increase your hours in this temporary post, or if you could be released from your current post for a secondment, discussion with your line manager is required before you apply.

Responsibilities
* Work clinically as an advanced OT with flexibility across bases, depending on skills and service need.
* Deliver a high‑quality clinical service to patients and their families.
* Provide leadership as an Occupational Therapy specialist within the community mental health pathways of Integrated Mental Health Teams and the Intensive Life Skills pathway, offering advice and guidance to OT colleagues and other team members.
* Manage a complex caseload and supervise clinical practice and caseloads of other team members.
* Provide the specialist Occupational Therapy process and deliver interventions in line with agreed care plans to people experiencing mental health‑related difficulties.
* Deliver individual and group‑based interventions, aligning with transformation and evidence bases relevant to the client group.
* Carry day‑to‑day responsibility for professional leadership and evidence‑based practice, working closely with the Operational Lead and Neighbourhood Leads to ensure safe and effective service delivery in line with service specifications and contracted clinical activity.
* Lead the shaping of the clinical area and supervise the team, upholding the highest standards and quality of service.
Person Specification
Qualifications – Essential
* Diploma in Occupational Therapy or a related degree, with post‑qualification knowledge and experience to a postgraduate‑level as outlined in the job duties.
* Health and Care Professions Council Registration as a registered Occupational Therapist.
Experience – Essential
* Highly developed specialist knowledge across a range of OT processes and client groups.
* Experience working with people who have emotional dysregulation, significant self‑harm and life‑threatening behaviours.
* Ability to demonstrate a clear Occupational Therapy identity and educate others on the value and impact of the OT profession.
* Internal MPFT employee.
Desirable
* Experience of leading others.
