Behavioural Specialist Teaching Assistant

Long-Term Teachers are seeking an experienced teaching assistant with extensive support experience in a specialist environment. Working full time, Monday to Friday, during term time only, this role is based at a state-funded special school for students in years 5 - 11 with EHCPs supporting SEMH and SCL needs. Previous experience supporting students with challenging behaviour and a nurturing approach are essential.
Your role will involve:
* Supporting teachers in the classroom
* Working with children 1:1 or delivering sessions with small groups
* Managing classroom resources
* Taking children on trips and visits
* Having lunch with children who struggle socially
* Managing heightened behaviours and ensuring safety
* Playing board games
* Creating displays
* Celebrating student success
* Supporting therapy sessions and reflecting on difficult periods
There is potential to progress to a permanent position for those who demonstrate excellence as part of the team.
