This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys transactional accounting but also wants wider exposure across a busy finance function within a fast-paced commercial environment." About the Job Reporting to the Senior Finance Team, the Assistant Accountant will support the day-to-day operations of the finance department, gaining exposure across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, and month-end processes. Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable Maintain the sales ledger to ensure incoming payments are recorded and allocated correctly Raise sales invoices and credit notes in line with internal procedures Monitor outstanding balances and liaise with internal teams to resolve queries Assist with aged debt reporting and general credit control activities Accounts Payable Process supplier invoices accurately and within agreed deadlines Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies Support the preparation of payment runs Bank & Finance Support Carry out regular bank reconciliations and investigate variances Assist with posting journals and maintaining accurate financial records Provide support during month-end and year-end close processes General Finance Administration Maintain well-organised and up-to-date financial documentation Assist with payroll-related tasks and other ad hoc finance duties as required Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and company procedures Previous Experience Experience in an assistant accountant, accounts assistant, or finance administration role Good understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and reconciliation processes Exposure to month-end tasks and journal postings desirable Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Experience using accounting or ERP systems High level of accuracy with strong organisational and communication skills Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment For further information on this opportunity or if you are considering the next step in your career get in touch with Ollie Mairs at HireIQ in complete confidence Skills: Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Bank Reconciliation
