Overview
South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust is hiring for a Housekeeper. There are two posts available: 1 x 20 hours per week and 1 x 30 hours per week. Closing date: 22 October 2025.
Hours: 30 hours – 5 x 6 hour shifts over 7 days (including bank holidays and weekends); 20 hours – 4 x 5-hour shifts per week (rota basis, including bank holidays).
The post holder will be part of the Facilities Team within Housekeeping and Domestic Services and will carry out catering and cleaning duties across the Kendray Hospital site. The post holder reports to the Housekeeping and Domestic Supervisors and the Housekeeping Manager and must be flexible in approach to duties.

Main duties of the job
The main duties include cleaning all areas to the National Standards of Cleanliness and signing off completion sheets. Additional duties may include catering tasks as required.

* Work as a team and prioritise workload; overtime possible to cover sickness or holidays.

Job responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
Provide a high standard of domestic, catering and general household duties within a ward environment for people with mental health problems, in line with National standards of cleanliness.
CONFIDENTIALITY
All staff must respect patient confidentiality and report any adverse incidents to their Line Manager.
KEY RESULT AREAS
* Establish and maintain good working relationships with ward staff and service users while delivering housekeeping duties.
* Receive and store all food in accordance with standards and policy; maintain records related to food storage and regeneration.
* Regenerate/prepare and serve meals and sundry items, liaising with named nurses to ensure care plans are followed; prepare for meals with menus displayed.
* Prepare requisitions for sundry items, cleaning materials, linen and equipment for authorisation by Clinical or Facilities Service Manager.
* Handle and store dirty linen safely and ensure stock levels meet service user requirements; launder bed linen and support service users with laundry equipment as needed.
* Communicate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure special diets and care plans are followed; manage menu changes with service users and nursing staff.
General duties and ward duties
* Provide a full cleaning/housekeeping service within the ward per work schedules; report and address discrepancies.
* Damp-dust furniture, fixtures and fittings; remove waste per policy; replenish consumables; report faults; secure and lock doors.
* Dishwashing and cleaning of kitchen surfaces and equipment; damp mop floors; maintain sanitary fittings and floor care.
* Weekly duties include high-dusting and thorough cleaning of equipment; periodic duties include curtain changes and equipment maintenance.
* Follow health and safety, infection control and COSHH regulations; manual handling and occasional exposure to unpleasant environments.
Content will be reviewed with the postholder as service developments occur. All duties must comply with Trust policies, including Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies. The post may require other duties commensurate with the grade as directed by the Area Facilities Officer.

* Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety or willingness to undertake and complete within 12 months (can be obtained through SWYPFT).

* Ability to perform duties; satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (with fairness in considering disability/pregnancy).
Experience
* Experience in demanding work environments; industrial cleaning/catering; patient-focused environments.
