Production Manager

Salary up to £60, depending on experience
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Manager to lead the operational performance of Plumbing & Drainage production units within a manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and cost‑effective production while meeting quality standards, delivery targets, and wider business objectives.
The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, optimise resources, and build a high‑performing and engaged production team.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead day‑to‑day production operations, ensuring outputs meet quality, specification, and delivery requirements
·Plan and schedule production activity in collaboration with Planning to maximise efficiency and resource utilisation
· Monitor machine performance, promote preventative maintenance, and work with Engineering to minimise downtime
·Track and improve key production KPIs relating to safety, quality, cost, waste, and delivery
·Lead departmental improvement plans to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve workflow
·Drive process optimisation and identify opportunities to improve synergies across production areas
·Ensure production teams are appropriately resourced, trained, and supported
·Handle day‑to‑day employee relations matters in line with company policies and employment legislation
·Ensure quality standards and QA systems are followed and regularly reviewed
·Manage operational and material costs within agreed budgets
·Report weekly on production performance, workforce, and operational matters
·Prepare monthly performance reports for senior leadership
·Maintain accurate records relating to production output, scrap, training, timekeeping, and KPIs
Requirements
·Minimum of 5 years’ management experience within a manufacturing environment
·Proven experience in a production or operations management role
·Experience using Lean Manufacturing tools including 5S, 5WHY, and SMED
·Strong understanding of materials management and production planning
·Strong IT skills, including MS Office, with advanced Excel capability
·Solid understanding of Health & Safety and quality compliance standards
