Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for a Service Coordinator to join our team across West Sussex. You will join us on a part-time, fixed term contract until 30th June 2026, and in return, you will receive a salary of £13.19 per hour (FTE £24,023 per annum) .

About the Service Coordinator role:

Our Health and Community Services provide support to people across Great Britain who are isolated and lonely by helping them to reconnect with their communities and add value to their lives.

The successful candidate would need to work within the West Sussex County Council Area, with the bulk of work taking place around the Chichester and Arun areas. Covering Adur, Arun, Chichester, Horsham, Crawley, and Mid Sussex. Within West Sussex, The Royal Voluntary Service will work as part of a larger consortium, including Age UK, CTS and Mind, to name but a few.

The West Sussex Good Neighbours service will support people aged over 65 who require short-term in-home befriending / social enabling, in order to improve their socialisation options, personal independence and quality of life.

We're currently looking for a Service Co-ordinator to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term contract until June 2026.

Location: Home based with travel across the West Sussex area, with the bulk of your time spent around the Chichester and Arun areas.

In order to fulfil this role, the successful candidate will need a full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with business use car insurance. Business mileage will be reimbursed via expenses.

Hours: 21 hours per week, working 7 hours a day from Wednesday to Friday.

What you'll need

* The successful applicant should be able to make autonomous decisions when necessary whilst being comfortable carrying out tasks or direction to achieve targets.
* Is able to make decisions that are person centred and work within the best interests of clients and volunteers, whilst adhering to service guidelines.
* Is able to lone work as required and be able to work as part of a small local team and a larger organisational network of support, whilst making appropriate decisions.
* Be able to partner work with a wide range of local stakeholders and commissioned service partners and make appropriate local decisions as required, whilst adhering to RVS guidance.
* Be confident in the use of case management systems.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, and protection of the health, safety and wellbeing of clients, self and all other volunteers and employees.
* Be confident in the use of case management systems.
* Knowledge of GDPR, safeguarding adults, professional boundaries and collaborative working and an understanding of maintaining confidentiality

* Local service delivery colleagues – Daily, continuous, 2-way contact – working in a team.
* Other stakeholders – Daily, continuous, 2-way contact – working in a team.
* Able to actively participate as a team member as well as being able to work under own initiative.
* Able to support the training of volunteers, via pre-prepared training materials whilst embracing one's own personal development.
* Interacts with a team of volunteers whilst understanding and supporting the motivations of volunteers.
* Supportive to clients to access support services, or to make their own access to support mechanisms where appropriate.
* Supportive to any other stakeholders to access RVS information and support.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Previous experience in a community-based service environment.
* Knowledge of the Microsoft suite and Case Management systems.
* Previous customer service experience. (Essential)
* Possess a willingness to undertake personal training and continuing professional development. (Essential)
* Flexibility to support covering colleague absence and holidays.
* An understanding of providing a supportive person-centred service
* A full, valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle with business use insurance

This is what you'll be doing:

* To assist the Service Manager in ensuring that the service is delivered in line with service specifications.
* To help with the day-to-day coordination of the service/services including arranging appropriate service cover, by matching volunteers with clients, dealing with email and telephone enquiries, and any complaints.
* Undertake the promotion of the service with a view to ensuring sufficient recruitment of volunteers and Clients by attending in-person and online promotional events. To take an active part in the promotion of the service and to take full advantage of promotion opportunities offered within an allocated geographical area.
* To take responsibility for increased inclusivity amongst older people within a given geographical area (geographical areas to be agreed on confirmation of role).
* To work directly with individual older people, over the phone and in person, and within their own homes, to develop and oversee the implementation of a personalised support plan aimed at increasing the service users inclusivity and social cohesion. To review and adjust this plan as required.
* To monitor and assist a team of Royal Voluntary Service volunteers within an allocated geographical area. The delivering of volunteer training, both remotely and in person, via pre-prepared training materials.
* To deliver a wide range of service interventions and support mechanisms to better meet the express needs of older people living within the West Sussex area.
* To work within an allocated geographical area to collaborate effectively and appropriately with partner agencies to improve social cohesion amongst older people.
* Key collaborations include with elected members and ward committees, health and social care teams, GPs, housing bodies and associations, advice agencies, voluntary sector organisations and faith and community groups etc.
* To ensure that all promotions and partner working events and other key service data is correctly recorded on relevant Royal Voluntary Service databases, and that these are kept up to date, in-line with GDPR guidance.
* To attend and contribute to local area meetings with various stakeholders as required, both on-line and in-person, with a view to sharing and promoting RVS service information.
* To report any service shortfalls or potential contract deviations to the service manager at an early stage, and to help appropriately rectify these.
* To ensure all agreed standards of customer service and volunteer management are met as defined by the local Service Plan.
* Comply with associated statutory standards, policies, procedures and undertake personal training and development e.g. Health and Safety, Data Protection, safeguarding training etc.
* To conduct general administrative duties including maintaining Management Information Systems, data entry, dealing with correspondence, answering telephone calls and emails etc.
* To undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the purpose and remit of the post.
Be able to partner work with a wide range of local stakeholders and commissioned service partners and make appropriate local decisions as required, whilst adhering to RVS guidance.
