This is a unique opportunity to become a member of a small, friendly, highly specialised nursing team. The role involves managing / caring for haemophilia patients across all stages of the patient journey, from birth into adulthood. Caring for adult patients with related bleeding disorders and paediatric immunology is part of this interesting and varied role.
Based at the Queen's centre, Castle Hill Hospital, you will provide care to adults and paediatric patients across hospital sites, in inpatient, outpatient and community settings.

Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective running of the department in the absence of the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist or manager.
You will provide clinical leadership to the nursing team, supervise assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for this specialist group of patients and their carers.
You will act as a member of the multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive care for patients. Your responsibilities will include giving specialist advice, support and counselling to patients, their carers and staff. With support from the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Manager and MDT members, you will be involved in developing a nurse‑led initiative supporting treatment of side effects, both physical and psychological, for patients.
Your remit will be inpatient, outpatient and occasional community.
You will be a valued member of a multidisciplinary team that works closely together to provide up‑to‑date patient care for both adult and paediatric patients with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders, platelet disorders and paediatric immunology.
Job responsibilities
* Manage and prioritise own workload and that of junior team members against the needs of patients during your span of duty.
* Provide and lead direct patient care in a nurse‑led environment at an allocated workload for the span of duty.
* Assist and share responsibility with the lead CNS or manager in the implementation of corporate and nursing objectives.
* Act as a coordinator in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility.
* Liaise with other wards and departments when patients are undergoing surgical and other procedures ensuring the smooth outcome of procedures.
* Plan care packages related to individual patient pathways to ensure continuity of care.
Person Specification
Experience
* Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife.
* Relevant qualification in Haemophilia/Hemostasis and paediatric Immunology.
* Teaching qualification or experience.
* Paediatric qualification or experience.
Knowledge
* Minimum 2 years post basic experience.
* Administration of IV drugs.
* Experience working in the field of haemophilia and paediatric immunology.
* Cannulation and peripheral venepuncture.
