About the role
We’re looking for a Junior Kitchen Manager to join the Butlin's Buffets Department based in Skegness.
Description
Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, you will support the running of the kitchen and lead a large team of chefs, stepping in during the Kitchen Manager’s absence. You will be passionate about delivering an exceptional guest experience, monitoring it, and developing continuous improvement action plans. You will support team growth through daily briefings, stock control and review of food presentation. You will also ensure financial performance by delivering food cost budgets and effective menu planning, while maintaining food hygiene and health & safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Kitchen Manager in running the kitchen and lead a large team of chefs.
* Develop action plans for continuous improvement of guest experience.
* Conduct daily briefings, manage stock control and review food presentation.
* Deliver food cost budgets through menu planning, cooking standards and specifications.
* Maintain food hygiene standards, health & safety and ensure compliance with legislation and company policies.
* Act as a role model for Butlin’s unique way of working, ensuring training schedules and performance development plans are in place for the team.
* Maintain and grow the team’s skills in a high‑volume buffet environment serving up to 3,000 guests per service.
Qualifications & Experience
* Level 3 Food Safety qualification, or proven equivalent, and confident in leading a team to high standards.
* Experience in a similar role with large volume turn‑around (capable of supporting 3,000 guests per service).
* Strong leadership and organisational skills, with ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
* Sound knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety and cost management.
Working Hours
This role covers a 5‑day working week over 7 days for a total of 40 hours, including evenings and weekends. This role does not come with onsite accommodation.
