About The Role
If you love meeting new people and want to support those affected by dementia in your area, then we may have just the volunteer role for you!
As a Group Support Volunteer, you'll support and encourage people affected by dementia to engage in activities and socialise with others in a group setting. You will be a friendly face at the group, welcoming and talking to people to help them feel comfortable, and offering refreshments. You will also assist in setting up and tidying away at the end of the session.
Your involvement will help people affected by dementia meet others in similar situations, access support and information, and enjoy meaningful activities.
Are you:
* Confident and Enthusiastic
* Some awareness around dementia is preferred but not essential
This group meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 10am-1pm at Golden Mosque, Rochdale OL12 6TG.
The café can be busy and hectic, so the ability to work on your own initiative and multitask is important.
You should be confident communicating with an older demographic and ideally have language skills in Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Bangla, or Gujarati.
Travel independently.
