Principal Pharmacist, Outpatients Services

An exciting opportunity has arisen to manage our busy team as Principal Pharmacist, Outpatients services.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to lead and develop the Trust's outpatient pharmacy service.
Epsom and St Helier Hospitals have retained in-house outpatient dispensing, with the pharmacy team managing the supply of medicines across the full range of specialties seen in our clinics.
We are looking for a dynamic and inspiring leader who will transform the service for our patients. The successful candidate will re-invigorate and reinvent our processes, delivering a professional, efficient, and compassionate pharmacy service.
Main duties of the job
You will need to have had hospital experience to understand how hospital prescribing, hospital only and formulary medicines work and perhaps you will also have experience of community pharmacy from which you can bring your commercial skills.
This is a senior role requiring someone with proven managerial and change management skills and experience. You will be working with a team of pharmacy assistants, technicians and pharmacists on two sites who are passionate about delivering a high class service.

The post includes participation in the late duty, seven day, bank holiday and senior on-call rotas.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Masters in Pharmacy Degree - MPharm
* 1 year pre-registration training Professional registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
* Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
* Membership of Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain
* Member of the faculty of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (or working towards) at Faculty Advanced Stage II or Advanced level practice against the Core Advanced Curriculum
Experience & Knowledge
* Extensive post registration hospital experience at least Band 7 level
* Staff management Experience of clinical trials
* Demonstrates evidence of excellent clinical knowledge and skills
* Understanding of current national standards, guidelines and service developments linked to areas covered by Medicine.
* Staff training and appraisal and service development
* Knowledge of CMM (formerly JAC) pharmacy computer system
* Risk management and assessment
* Experience using KPIs to monitor a servicectice in the hospital setting
Skills/abilities
* Excellent organisational skills-self and others.
* Computer literate including familiarity with electronic prescribing systems
* Demonstrates initiative and ability to multi-task
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work
* Up to date on changes to pharmacy and hospital standards
* Ability to implement and manage change
* Appreciation of audit methods
