Offer description

Location: Oxford / Bicester area
Salary: £42,000 to £48,000 DOE
Overtime: Weekend overtime available, paid at time and a half
Hours: Monday to Friday, days

My client is looking to appoint an experienced TIG Welder Fabricator to support a busy engineering workshop producing high-quality fabricated components and assemblies.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong TIG welding and fabrication experience, ideally with a varied background across sheet metal, stainless steel, aluminium or light fabrication work. The successful candidate will be confident working from engineering drawings, preparing materials, fabricating components and producing clean, accurate welds to a high standard.

The role is not purely a welding position. The client is looking for someone with broader fabrication capability who can support preparation, fitting, sheet metal work and general workshop activity where required. Experience with press brake work, laser-cut parts, fabrication preparation or varied workshop processes would be beneficial.

Current welding coding is not essential, but candidates must be comfortable completing a weld test as part of the assessment process. Thin gauge TIG welding capability is essential.

The Role

As TIG Welder Fabricator, you will be involved in the preparation, fabrication and welding of components for a range of engineering projects.

You will work from drawings and job requirements, prepare materials, carry out TIG welding and support general fabrication tasks within the workshop. The role may involve occasional customer site work, but the main focus will be workshop-based fabrication and welding.

There is plentiful overtime available, including weekend overtime paid at time and a half.

This position would suit someone who takes pride in high-quality workmanship, can work accurately from drawings, and is comfortable supporting a varied engineering workload.

Key Responsibilities

*

Carry out TIG welding to a high standard, including thin gauge work.

*

Fabricate components and assemblies from engineering drawings.

*

Prepare, measure, cut and fit materials for welding and fabrication.

*

Support sheet metal fabrication, fabrication preparation and general workshop activity.

*

Work with laser-cut parts, fabricated components and press brake-formed parts where required.

*

Support varied workshop projects across different materials and applications.

*

Complete work accurately and in line with quality expectations.

*

Support occasional customer site work when required.

*

Work as part of a team while also being confident completing tasks independently.

Skills and Experience Required

*

Experience as a TIG Welder, Welder Fabricator, Sheet Metal Worker, Fabricator Welder or similar.

*

Strong TIG welding experience, including thin gauge capability.

*

Good fabrication, preparation and general workshop skills.

*

Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.

*

Comfortable completing a weld test as part of the assessment process.

*

High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.

*

Confident using hand tools, power tools and general fabrication equipment.

Desirable Experience

*

Sheet metal fabrication, press brake or laser-cut component experience.

*

Aerospace, automotive, motorsport, precision engineering or similar background.

*

MIG welding experience.

*

Small batch, bespoke or varied fabrication experience.

*

Previous experience working in a high-quality engineering workshop.

Qualifications and Training

Relevant welding, fabrication or engineering qualifications would be beneficial, but practical experience and the ability to produce high-quality work are most important.

Current welding coding is not essential, but candidates must be willing and able to complete a weld test.

Personal Attributes

* Practical, reliable and hands-on.

* Strong attention to detail.

* Takes pride in producing clean, accurate work.

* Flexible and willing to support varied workshop activity.

* Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

* Able to follow drawings and instructions accurately.

* Safety-conscious and professional in approach.

Summary

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced TIG Welder Fabricator looking for a varied workshop-based role with regular overtime available.

The role would suit someone with a strong fabrication background, good TIG welding ability and broader workshop experience across sheet metal, fabrication preparation, press brake work or laser-cut components.

Experience from aerospace, automotive, motorsport, precision engineering or other high-quality manufacturing environments would be particularly relevant
