Interim Commercial Estates Manager Midlands-based (hybrid working) 6 months contract £31-34 per hour We are working in partnership with a forward-thinking local authority to appoint an experienced Interim Commercial Estates Manager to lead a high-profile disposals and commercial property programme. This is a pivotal role within the Property & Development function, focused on driving value from a diverse estate, delivering a strategic disposals pipeline, and identifying innovative opportunities for regeneration and income generation. The Role You'll take the lead on the delivery of a significant disposals programme while overseeing a mixed commercial portfolio. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you'll play a key role in shaping and delivering the council's commercial strategy - balancing financial return with wider regeneration and sustainability goals. This is a visible leadership role requiring confidence, commercial acumen, and the ability to negotiate and close deals while protecting asset value. We're looking for a confident and commercially astute estates professional who can operate at pace and with authority: Proven experience delivering asset disposals programmes within a complex estate Strong background managing mixed-use commercial portfolios Demonstrable commercial acumen and track record of maximising asset value Experience within the public sector, with additional private sector exposure highly desirable Skilled in negotiation, able to maintain value and drive strong financial outcomes A natural leader with the presence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders Experience in regeneration, development, and income-generating initiatives Key Responsibilities Lead the delivery of the disposals pipeline, ensuring maximum capital receipts and compliance with all statutory requirements Manage and oversee a mixed commercial property portfolio to optimise performance and mitigate risk Lead the Estates surveying function across disposals and acquisitions Support and deputise for the Head of Property & Development Identify and drive forward commercial, regeneration, and development opportunities Produce and review viability appraisals, options appraisals, and business cases Provide strategic property advice to senior stakeholders and elected members Contribute to service planning, including implementation of the disposals strategy Work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to deliver key outcomes A degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Estate Management, Real Estate, Property, or a related discipline Full professional membership of a recognised body : MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) (or equivalent recognised professional accreditation) Extensive post-qualification experience in commercial property disposals and acquisitions investment / development
