About the employer
The Community Living Support Worker will be primarily responsible for assisting social work managers in the provision of quality social work services to young people within the leaving and after care service. He/She will work within a Children’s Services Team and will undertake tasks allocated by the Social Work Team Manager to support social workers in the discharge of their duties. Staff will also be expected to ensure continuing professional development through training, supervision and learning in line with NISCC registration requirements. Evening and weekend work will be necessary.
What you’ll do
* Undertake work with young people as directed by the Social Work Manager, Senior Social Work Practitioner or Social Worker in keeping with any support/protection/care plan.
* Support young people to attend appointments related to maintaining their emotional health and well‑being.
* Hold case responsibility as part of the overall assessment process; will not hold a caseload independently.
* Assist with arrangements and/or delivery of services needed to support young people, including supporting independent living arrangements.
* Attend and contribute to reports for Trust meetings regarding the young people being supported.
* Complete delegated tasks such as coordinating and ensuring compliance with tenancy agreements, repairs and health and safety requirements, including completing fire checks.
* Assist young people with practical tasks, providing advice and guidance on emotional health, routines, boundaries, behaviour expectations, homecare management, budgeting and essential form filling.
* Provide general information about services and sign‑post to more appropriate services as required.
Governance and reporting responsibilities
* Report to Team Manager and/or Social Worker immediately all identified child protection concerns or other areas of concern or risk in the course of any work with children and families.
* Support social work staff with administrative tasks, including referrals, sign‑posting to agencies, setting up meetings, and attending meetings with young people when requested.
* Liaise with other agencies in multi‑disciplinary work under the direction of social work staff or team manager.
* Maintain clear records of all work undertaken.
* Provide written reports of delegated tasks.
* Participate in the supervision process with the Social Work Team Manager/Senior Social Work Practitioner.
* Be accountable for own practice in line with NISCC codes of conduct and best practice.
About you
* NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 3 in a care‑related subject and at least 1 year of experience in a social care role;
* OR NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 2 in a care‑related subject and at least 2 years of experience in a social care role;
* OR 4 GCSEs (Grades A–C) and at least 3 years of experience in a social care role.
* For those who do not hold Level 3, a willingness to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care Support.
* NISCC Registered.
* Hold a current full driving licence valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
